The information printed in these pamphlets was compiled with the belief that there are better, alternative approaches to funerals: planting seeds of ash trees that, over time, become poles for fierljeppen—the traditional pole-vaulting practice—allowing one to practice crossing to the other side while alive.
Detailed documentation of the pole, which was a central part of this project, is unfortunately limited.
This project was created as part of Take a Walk on the Wild Side, a 2019 collaborative initiative between the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, combining Rietveld Uncut and Studium Generale.
